On the PALIDIN home screen, make sure you see the “Scanner Status: Online” (lower right corner) and “Insert a document to begin scanning” message.
Insert the ID1 type document with the front of the document facing up and the magnetic stripe to the right (as shown below).
Once the PALIDIN application has completed the inspection of the document, it will display the results on the Main section. Please note that once the system displays the result screen, clicking on the home, support or settings tab will automatically discard the current transaction information.
3.1. Inspection results can be: Passed, Failed, Attention! or Unknown.
Passed – this means the application was able to classify and authenticate the document. No further action required.
Failed + Explanation(s) – this means the document failed to pass multiple inspection tests. The “Authentication” section (covered later in this article) will detail the tests that failed. You should follow internal business protocol on how to deal with a fraudulent document.
Attention! + Explanation – this means the system was able to classify and authenticate the document but it found an item that needs to be reviewed. Examples of this result are: a document that has expired or a document that has a damaged magnetic stripe. You should follow internal business protocol on how to deal with this situation.
Unknown – this means the application was not able to classify the document. As such, it could not authenticate it. This normally happens for one of two reasons: (1) the document is not a part of the library (the document is “untrained”), or (2) the document is of poor quality forgery. You should follow internal business protocol on how to deal with this situation (e.g. have a supervisor or manager inspect the document)
To save or print a transaction report manually, click the “Actions” menu on the top right corner of the main result screen then click “Save Report” or “Print Transaction Report” from the drop-down menu options. You can also save a sample file of that scan by clicking on "Save Sample".
The Images section displays the high-resolution images captured by the scanner. You’ll see both the front and back of the ID document as well as an infrared version of the front of the ID document. Depending on which scanner device you use, you may also see ultraviolet versions of the front and back of the document.
The Biographic section displays the various personal data information extracted from the document and stored on the multiple security mechanisms in the document (e.g. magnetic strip, 1D barcode, 2D barcode, chip, etc.).
The Authentication section displays the individual authentication tests performed on the document that failed (e.g. birth date crosscheck, 2D barcode read, 2D barcode content, etc.).
The Report section will display a summary inspection report that can include high-definition images, document info and personal data collected by the scanner (depending on system configuration). The Report screen also has a save report and print report option (floppy disk icon and printer icon, respectively).
We also have a Support tab where you can fill out the boxes to create a Support Ticket. The Support tab also includes a TeamViewer icon on the bottom right, where, by clicking on it, it will generate a TeamViewer ID and password, which you can then provide so that a Support person can remote into that computer.
